Gas Cap

Cheap at twice the price. Fits nearly all GT250, GT380, ft GT500, GT550 and may fit early GT750. Some minor nicks on 'nose'. Brand new seal. I have a key that will work with a little fiddling. $30 plus shipping.

I have a bad gas cap. When closed, the latch sticks out too far & the gas cap does not seal.
Latch is in the closed position in the pic:

None of my other gas cap are like this.

Does you cap latch correctly? If so, I'll take it.

The gas cap is no longer for sale. It has the same problem as the one in the pic Josh posted.

I haven't done anything yet. Took a gas cap off of a bike that it not currently running.

Any busy trying to get a few bikes sold. Fixing the gas cap is way down on the ToDo list.

Hi to all,
I managed to repair my petrol cap by drilling through the flange that the lock barrel fits in & the cap side..
the problem seems to be wear between both flats on the outer flanges & the flats pressed into the cap.
I used a 1mm drill to drill through both parts on either side ..twist it to take the play out before drilling both parts..then use the plain part of the drill bit to make a couple of pins to hold the barrel flanges to the cap sides in the position they were in originally. Peen the ends of the pins to stop the pins falling out. So far its working ok & shuts & locks properly..But its a fiddly job.

I had the same problem. The fix is very easy, no drilling required.
Strip the latch mechanism from the cap (it is held together by two c-clips).
Once stripped remove the brass slider and it's tiny spring and throw it away or store it. You will not be needing it.
Reassemble, making sure everything lines up the right way (it is easy to get the parts 90 degrees out, which will not work).
Once you have rebuilt it the correct way, but without the brass slider and it's spring, the latch will work. You should still be able to lock it and unlock it the conventional way.

The gas cap has been introduced formally to my 550K (we have to do things like that over here doncher know!)
And they seem to have confirmed a relationship.

The postage took 8 days, which is considerably more than 24 hours from Tulsa
(I know, I know - coat, door, **** off!)
