Thanks man, unfortunately its hard to find decals for a GT250. I hear you on getting them cleared over. Keep posting pics, bike looks great!pearljam724 wrote:KnK Cycles sells tank decals. Hello pearljam724,
I just caught up with the photos of your GT750, outstanding results
. You now know what it feels like to complete a project when all those hours of work (and $$$
) fade into history and the finished bike leaves you with that happy and contented feeling. I hope you get many miles of riding enjoyment.
Cheers Geoff

Re: YA HOO ! Anticipation is finally over.
Thank you, Geoff. Yes, I have a very unpredictable work schedule. Therefore, there were dozens of nights I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning. Polishing this, cleaning that, adjusting this. Knowing I would be going back to work soon, just didn't know when. And when that happened I knew my spare time would be lost. I knew it would take a lot of time and that's what I had to do to accomplish the job. Initially when I bought the bike, I didn't intend to go this far. But, after the motor was reinstalled and I received the parts from my painter. I found it very difficult to not go a step further as it was taking a nice direction. Spent a whole lot more money than I initially planned. But, I'm happy I did.

Hi pearljam724,
I certainly appreciate the "Restoration Creep" syndrome
. You start out with modest goals and then a part is finished and looks out of place because it's pristine against the rest of the bike. You then have to raise the ante with the other parts to match, next thing you know it's a full base up re-build. The finished result however makes it all worth it and those hours in the workshop you look back upon as "good times".
what's the next project ?
Cheers Geoff

Next project will be a Kenny Roberts 1984 RZ 350 full fairing. The bike in excellent running condition along with owning the full fiberglass fairings. The previous owner however restored it a little sloppy. So, I want to do a better job with it. Mostly paint, fasteners and a new exhaust is all. Once I finish it, I'll probably be selling the 550. I hate the thought of letting it go, but one has to. The RZ is just wicked fun to ride. So, it's definitely a keeper.Zunspec4 wrote:Hi pearljam724,

Re: YA HOO ! Anticipation is finally over.
A huge thank you goes out to Norm (Aka) " diablo." For jumping on the fact that I need another carb bowl. He sent it out immediately in hopes of getting a ride or 2 in by descent weather end. Dozens of other guys on here have provided valuable information and knowledge that allows these old two stokes to live on. Big thanks to all of you that have and continue to contribute to this site. My finished project is something you all should be proud of. Because you all played a big part in restoring this bike. Without the regular members here providing that information. I would have not known where to start, let alone finish.

I ll add a sound clip in a week or so. Im waiting on a carb bowl. One cylinder is not firing at times as a result of one faulty pilot jet.

Re: YA HOO ! Anticipation is finally over.
Thanks for the comment, Nick. Thanks, very much for the pipes. They sound and look absolutely amazing. I'm still in the mist of working out a carb bowl issue and I have to remove the carbs for the 3rd time as I believe 2 of the 3 floats are set a mm or 2 too low causing flooding. Simple things to fix, but takes a little time. I couldn't have found a better deal. When I began the project I had only dreams of buying these pipes because they were simply too expensive for my budget. But, you allowed that to be very feasible and as a result made me one happy restorer. Am I allowed to call myself that now ?J54156 wrote:You have done a lovely job there mister.......can't wait to hear those pipes too!
