Ground wires gt550
I'm rebuilding a 1975 GT550. I'm getting close to starting it up for the first time. I have three ground wires that I disconnected three years ago (it's been a long process). I'm wondering where they connect to. One is comes off the top of the frame between the tank and the seat, I'm assuming this connects to the air box? It's not long enough to go anywhere else. The next is the ground from the ignition coils, looks like it may connect to the frame or the cylinder head. The last comes from behind the kick starter, maybe to the battery? Or to the carbs? I know these are dumb questions and while I took photos of the deconstruction I missed a couple of steps. Any help appreciated. I'll take some photos and post if these aren't clear. Cheers.

Re: Ground wires gt550
Ground wires go to any part of the frame, ( we call them earth wires, here in the uk) should be black with a white stripe down the centre... The air box on a 550 is plastic ( non conductive ) so not there. A ground is just a return for any electrical part.. So positive is ( + ) 6/12 volts ( - ) negative ( return ground ) I hope this helps..

One is not used. The short one. One by kick lever goes to the battery. should be heavy wire or a braided strap. The one coming off the coil mount is a short wire with a large eyelet and a small eyelet The large eye goes under the coil mount bolt. the small eye goes on the forward most bolt that joins the ram air halves together.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Good point re: airbox. Thanks for the help, looks like my intuition was mostly right. I'm a Brit living in Canada, seems I'm forgetting more and more British terms the longer I live here!
