Can't remember name of engine cover screws ?

Post by pearljam724 »

I know there's a special name for the Phillips fasteners on the GT 750 engine cases. Can someone refresh my memory. Couldn't pull up anything in a search. Thanks

8) Hi,JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) "similar" but different to Philips but this is why when you use a Philips screwdriver you tend to gnarl the head of the screw..because it's an incorrect fit,a set of JIS screwdrivers is a good investment if you own a Japanese bike :?: If you Google "the differences between JIS & Phillips" there is plenty of reading on the Web :)

Thanks, Roger. I knew it was something like that. I kept remembering Jas. But, didn't think that was right. Does anyone happen to know what number bit works well on the Buffalo ? Here's a #2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Vessel-JIS- ... 58a666b3c7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks, for the links and help guys. I managed to get 3 out with an impact driver. 5 were stubborn as hell and I had to drill them out. The remaining screws I was able to remove by hand. It's all good now, including the polished shine on the covers. I've replaced with polished stainless allans. :up:

Jabcb, I finally got those RexCaunt coils wired and hooked up as of about a month ago. The bike fires at the slightest sneeze of a spark. :up: Something I did a little differently in reference to wiring them, turning coils around etc. to allow clearance of the radiator overflow tank. I used 90 degree female spade terminals instead. That allows enough clearance in between the terminal ends of the coils and overflow tank if someone wanted to turn them in a better direction. Having all the terminals behind the overflow tank protects them from falling off too.

Would be interesting to see a pic of what you did.
