I am a bit confused. I was looking through eBay for steering bearings for my 76 GT550. All Balls kit # 22-1005 says it's for 72-75 GT550. I pulled out my old Dennis Kirk catalog and it also cuts off at 75. Nothing is listed for 76-77. I found one site in the UK that says the same kit is for 72-77 all years GT550. Another site with the same kit said it was not compatible with the 76, definite conflicting information. I can't imagine that the steering head changed for the 76 and 77, but maybe it did.
Does anyone know if the kit # 22-1005 will work on a 76. Anyone have a different number for the A and B models? I did notice that the kit for the GT750 was the same for all years. Why not the 550?

Re: steering stem bearings
I went to the All Balls web site. They do not show a kit for the 76. Through 75 only.
Surely some guys with 76 and 77's have installed tapered rollers. WTF?

Re: steering stem bearings
I installed an All Balls tapered set in my 550, a 1977 B model. All went as expected, works well.
If it helps, over the years I also did the same on my '77 750A and '77 380B and if they list the same part for all of those bikes, then looks like the fit all the GT triples.
