gt 750 master cylinder factory color/coating

Post by mikefealk »

1974 gt 750. front master cylinder is sorta purple on the bottom and fades to plain aluminum about half way up. i looked at some pics of others on ebay and they look the same. how did it come from the factory? thought about blasting mine bare, or painting it, or leaving it alone?...i dunno

It's a bear to mask but powder coating is the best. Unaffected by brake fluid. Brake fluid will wipe out most all paint except those designed for automotive calipers. Eastwood sells one and I think POR-15 does also. I don't know about rattle can caliper paint. Never tried it.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Mike,

Mine is like that on my original GT380B. Its UV fading I think.

They weren't that colour originally!

I don't mind mine being the 'new colour'.

Cheers,
Mike

The front brake Master Cylinder ... was black anodised, corrosion resistant finish ...( original finish.).. but faded over time..( 35/40 years) leaving the finish you all talking ..about... :ssh:
