Carburetors
Hi, has anyone tried using Keihin carburetors on T500, having a go at building wannabe tr500 and wondering how they might work. If there's anyone out there that would like to share there experience with them and ballpark jetting would be very helpful. Thanks.

Re: Carburetors
I have a set of OKO flat slides (Keihin replicas) that I purchased from the official OKO importer in the USA to fit on my GT750 motor.
I've had each of them jetted for a 250 single as a benchmark setting, but haven't got around to trying them yet.
Also, mine will be running with the aid of a vacuum controlled petrol pump.
The official, genuine OKO carbs from Taiwan are great items but the cheap Chinese copies flooding e bay are evil little devices best left alone.

Re: Carburetors
Thanks for your reply Gary, I was thinking something similar regarding 250 single MX engine. I'm jumping the gun a little as I still fiddling around with engine mods. Good luck with your project, maybe let us know when you have them up and running. Cheers Ken.

Re: Carburetors
Roger, the OKO importer to the USA, is a most helpful guy.
Unfortunately for us, most of the their applications have been fitted to single-cylindered mx and enduro bikes.
Roger suggested jetting it to a 250cc single cylinder spec and sent me some extra jets with the carbs to allow for future adjustments.
Mine will be set on a friends dyno when the time comes.
TR500 replica - go for it!

Re: Carburetors
Hi Ken,
I can provide basic info on jetting using Mikuni VM round slides (34mm and 38mm). Unfortunately I can't help with Keihn's. The use of baseline jetting from the 250MX single engines seems like a decent place to start from though. Play safe, keep it rich and if possible get it set-up and fine tuned on a Dyno with an A/F ratio gas analyser. Look forward to see your developments.
Cheers Geoff
