Tonight I unplugged all the connectors from the charging coil to the light switch and back to the rectifier and each section of wire checked out. So I put it all back together and checked the voltage and now I have at least 13 volts at idle! Some of my connectors must have been loose or corroded. It's great when a problem fixes itself.
I think I'll go on a ride tonight just to see how the lights work.

Ok, so here's a question re numbers - after looking at Muzza's site.
My T500 is registered as a 71, it has matching engine and frame numbers of 458XX. I see from Muzza's site that the 71 model goes up to 457XX and then the 72 starts about 47XXX
What happened to the bikes between the numbers posted for the R and J models? Also what do my numbers make my bike? I've been relating to it as a 71 - is it or isn't it?????
Mike

So,
I bought a carb bath from Napa - $30 and completely tore down the carbs. I soaked each carb for about a day - very impatiently mind you.
Monday night, I put them all back together, and fired her up. Hooray!!!!!! She fired right up, and actually ran on all 3 cylinders!!! Now I just have a few nit picky things to finish up, and she'll be street worthy.
To Do:
Fine tune the carbs - fuel air mixture
Tap threads for mirrors
Rebuild the petcock - Seems to only want to work if set to prime.
New air filters - I saw a set of K&N's I'd like to get
Check the oil injector to ensure it's supplying enough
New brake lens - mine has a chunk missing out of the side
Find a detent BB for the kick start
Almost there!!
