Willow Springs
Looks like I can make Willow Springs by flying in to Rosamond Airpark. Only 4 miles from there. That's an easy 2 hour flight from San Carlos. Too bad the Cessnas aren't big enough to fit my bike in the back!
Nothing up at ThunderHill this year? AFM running Formula Vintage maybe? They have dates at Buttonwillow, Infineon, and ThunderHill. Seems like less travel than some of the others, although not Nationals points for AHRMA obviously. I'm looking at a track day at ThunderHill with my Mini in February, and for my GT250 perhaps in April.

Re: Willow Springs
I haven't raced with AFM for two seasons, I'm no longer a club member. Sure the track locations are convienient but there's too few vintage bikes and you just can't beat being with the AHRMA family.krwalsh wrote:Nothing up at ThunderHill this year? I'll probably do a Thunderhill track day in May/Jun to get some of the T500 changes sorted out, so maybe we'll connect then.

Sure
Give me a couple days and I should have the lever back from the jet cutter so I can show you with it all mocked up. The key is to have the rod point directly at the swingarm pivot, or you end up with the brake lever moving around as the swingarm goes through its swing.

I'm signed up for a Keigwin's track day on 05 Apr at Thunderhill, B- group. This will be maiden voyage for the X-6 road racer to flush out infant mortality issues prior to Willow. Come join me?

Bike Yes, Me, not sure
Ralph-
The bike will be ready, not sure what Keigwin's policy is for me. The rules say "Very good riding skills. Track experience is required for non-school events. (Exceptions for very experienced street riders can be made by discussing this with us in advance)." Without having track-day experience, they might want me to start in a school program, which would be the following Monday/Tuesday. Have you ridden track days with Keigwin's previously? Any thoughts on how I might deal with that one? Seems like signing up for the B- group might be fine. I've lapped ThunderHill in my Mini at ~2:50 which was limited by acceleration and top end speed, so I'm nearly certain I could lap at their suggested 2:45 or less for the B-.
I dunno, Ralph, whaddya think? If you don't think it is an issue for a new rider to get in the B- group, I'd do it for sure.

I'd give Lance a call and discuss it with him, he's a very reasonable guy. The fact that you've been on a rac track before in you Mini should be a plus, you know T-Hill's layout. Read the equipment requirement rules on his website for machine and rider. Basically for your bike you'll need to tape up the head light and disable the stop light.

Woo Hoo!
Ralph-
Just talked with Lance, and I'm good to go. I'll get signed up for the B- group on April 5th, and should have a great time with the X-6 and my GT-250 on the track at the same time. Have to button up the last bits on the bike to make sure it is up to snuff, but since I prepped it to be a streetable AHRMA bike, I think I am pretty close on that front.

Eric,
I'm good to go for Mid-O and Barber, for the T500 at least. No big changes this year, I'm still in process of acquiring parts for the RDT500 (RD350 frame/T500 engine), it will be next year 'till I get this done.
New project this year is the T20, will race it at Willow, Miller, and Sandia, maybe Barber if I can secure affordable transport.
