I'm cleaning and scrubbing the motor to ready it for install in my 72 buff.Any tips on installation procedures to save my back.The front end is still on so dropping the frame onto the engine is not an option.This sucker is pretty darn heavy compared to my H2 so any guidance would be appreciated.TIA

Without trying to sound like a smart-ass, my suggestion is two people. I've done it by myself a few times, but to quote a friend of mine I was 'too soon old and too late smart' ! Two people is much easier, and also safer both for you and the engine.

Put the wheels on and get the bike up on the center stand. Get some scrap lumber and build a small bench, 2 or 3 inches higher than the lower frame rails. Set the motor on the bench and slide the bench up to the bike. I hope you have a floor jack because it is required in the next step. Cut a piece of plywood that will fit between the frame rails. Position the jack under the cradle area with its piece of plywood. Raise it up so it is just above the frame rails. Carefully work the engine off the bench onto the jack. A small piece in between helps. Once on the jack, attach the front mounting plate loosely to the frame. Move the jack around, raise or lower to get the front upper bolt in first. Once the bolt is through, tighten the front mounting plate. Now attach the rear plate. Raise or lower the jack till the rear upper aligns and work that bolt into place. Once these 2 bolts are in you can lower the jack and get all the junk out of the way. The rest is self explanatory.
That's the way i did my GS1000. Much heavier than the buffalo motor. When I did my buffalo, I mounted the frame to the motor.

If the front end is still the only part on the frame why not unbolt the four pinch bolts and slide out the front end assy, then drop the frame over the engine.
The time taken to build the bench and all that that goes with it could be spent just removing the front end.
