Tonight I unplugged all the connectors from the charging coil to the light switch and back to the rectifier and each section of wire checked out. So I put it all back together and checked the voltage and now I have at least 13 volts at idle! Some of my connectors must have been loose or corroded. It's great when a problem fixes itself. I think I'll go on a ride tonight just to see how the lights work.

Ok, so here's a question re numbers - after looking at Muzza's site.

My T500 is registered as a 71, it has matching engine and frame numbers of 458XX. I see from Muzza's site that the 71 model goes up to 457XX and then the 72 starts about 47XXX

What happened to the bikes between the numbers posted for the R and J models? Also what do my numbers make my bike? I've been relating to it as a 71 - is it or isn't it?????

So,

I bought a carb bath from Napa - $30 and completely tore down the carbs. I soaked each carb for about a day - very impatiently mind you.

Monday night, I put them all back together, and fired her up. Hooray!!!!!! She fired right up, and actually ran on all 3 cylinders!!! Now I just have a few nit picky things to finish up, and she'll be street worthy.

To Do:
Fine tune the carbs - fuel air mixture
Tap threads for mirrors
Rebuild the petcock - Seems to only want to work if set to prime.
New air filters - I saw a set of K&N's I'd like to get
Check the oil injector to ensure it's supplying enough
New brake lens - mine has a chunk missing out of the side
Find a detent BB for the kick start

Almost there!!

Dave,

Yes I did. It does have a hairline crack near the end - so I'll be replacing the hose, but I'm pretty certain it's sealing. I'll try a new hose first, and let you know.

Thanks,

Chris, it doesnt take much of a vacuum to make it work so putting the petcock on run and just draw on the vacuum line with your mouth and fuel should flow .

Thanks Dave,

I'll try that tonight. If it doesn't flow - what are the possible problems?

That would be the baffle for something, can't say fer shur if it's for a TS250, I never removed mine on the one I had, don't know what it looked like. The little pointy end is the spark arrestor.

Ahhh...I see. Why is it called a "clean out tube"?

Would lacking one of these make the exhaust loud?

It's that last thing in the muffler, and can be removed for cleaning the carbon out. It also quiets the bike a little.

I have the two pieces on the left. The clean out tube is on the far right...does it fit inside the middle piece? I'm a little confused here...

OK, I guess I had yours backwards. It looks as though it goes in first. The second part probably slips in to it. Not sure.

It looks good. The emblem is not bad for a repro. Nobody gets the metalflake just right.
